They installed an antenna on my roof for internet service. They gave me as a url (on2.xxxxx.com). In order to access my current web server, I add :89 to the url. They use this to divert me from another port because they cannot open the port i need opened. Actually I really need to run two web servers, one for my security cameras and one for the web server running my online ordering software. I really don’t understand this much about this topic. What do you say about this and what do you recommend as a cheap option? The other cable and phone companies do not provide service in my area. Many block ports for security purposes and sometimes to make additional money:

Obtain Dynamic Domain Name Service (Dynamic DNS). There are a number of providers that will give you this type of service for FREE. Just do a search for one and follow their directions. They will assign you a new url.

Since port 80 and 81 are closed you will need to find another port that is open to give you access to the second web server. Obtain a port checking tool. Again, there are many FREE options. Just do an online search for one and run the tool to find another open port.

You will need to configure your router. You will need to forward the appropriate web traffic to appropriate server. You will need to consult your router’s manual to do this. Since we know port 89 (access by typing new_url:89) is open that should point the existing server. Choose another open port (access by typing new_url:port_number_here) and forward traffic to the other server through that port.

I hope this helps. If not you may purchase consultation or contracting services.

Good Luck!

Are you a struggling with a technical question?
