C. A. Lettsome Services, LLC is pleased to announce that Dr. Clyde Lettsome has been selected to and will take part in the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Standard Setting Study. The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is the first step in the process of becoming a licensed Professional Engineer. The National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES) is the institution that provides the specifications and guidelines for FE exam takers as well as institutions that use the FE exam as a part of their accreditation assessment plan. Because the exam is converting from a pencil and paper test to a computer based exam in 2014 and because technology changes so quickly, the specifications have to be updated.

During this standard setting study, the selected participants will review the content of the FE exam and rate the difficulty of items that will be included on the updated FE exam. Since the NCEES operates at the highest of standards, its chosen participants have to have successfully passed the FE exam.

“Serving as a study participant is an honor,” said Dr. Lettsome. “As an educator and engineer, being part of this study allows me to provide input on what tomorrow’s licensed professional engineers should know in order to demonstrate proficiency in the fundamentals of engineering.”
