|Roxanne S.: Where do I copyright a business name for my website business?|
|Answer: Hi Roxanne, you cannot copyright a business name. Copyrighting is done with books, documents, music, movies, etc. I am assuming you want to register your business name. Once you register your business name with a state, your name is protected in that state. There is no registration that you can do on a national level. However if you have a logo, you can trademark it with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This gives some level of national name protection. To further protect your name, I would suggest that you purchase as many of the common top-level domain (yourcompany.com, yourcompany.net, yourcompany.org, etc.) as you can afford to purchase.Good Luck!|
