Chantay B.: We are seeking increased traffic to our website and blog. Does SEO, meta tags, submitters, headings, google ranking make a difference? |

Answer: Yes, they do make a difference. Google, Yahoo, Bing and other search engines are usually used by people that do not know you or your business to find your website. In order to increase your traffic via search engines it is very important to consider SEO. With a little bit of programming know how you can do it yourself. To help developers and website owners improve SEO, Yahoo and Google posted how to guides on the topic and I strongly encourage you to read them. If you find their guides overwhelming, you can hire someone to do it for you. However, do not hire anyone that contacts you first or anyone that claims they can keep you on the top search list. There are tons of scammers passing themselves as legitimate SEO companies. Most often, they will contact you first and make grandiose claims like they can get you to the top of search engines lists.
Search engines should not be your only methods for increasing your website traffic. Consider using social media and social networking sites to help you increase site traffic also. Good luck! |

SEO will generate a better return based on keyword specific content. Meta Tags are placed within your site code as a means to attach a nice content rich summary for a post as well as allowing to incorporate keyword specific terms to target return from search engines.
With that headings are equally important for very much the same reason.
The purpose of submitting URL is to have your site archived within a server directory.
Once you submit your URL to submitters be sure to ping your URL so as to ensure it is returning without any dead links.
Be sure to check out social bookmarking, microblogging, and social networks as they are wonderful sources in generating traffic and like minded thinkers.
